The Diocesan Council of Kootenay met on January 7, 2025, discussing a wide variety of topics including financial reports, regional ministry, and communication strategies. Concerns were raised about parishes investing independently of the Diocesan Consolidated Fund, prompting a discussion on the legality and potential need for policy revisions. The Council received reports from the Archbishop, Executive Archdeacon, and various committees, including the Sub-Committee on Policy Recommendations and the Canon Revision Committee.

A key decision was to form a committee to develop a comprehensive communication strategy for the Diocese, addressing website issues, social media, and reaching congregations with diverse communication needs. Motions were passed to improve access to past minutes and to re-establish a Register of Motions so as to track the ongoing work of Diocesan Council. The Council also discussed the need for better data and tools to inform regional ministry and decision-making. There were efforts proposed that wold see the diocesan funds, especially those orphaned funds, to be tracked, and if possible cleaned up by combining with similar funds.
