Why Communicate?
An Invitation to Faithful Next Steps

The primary goal of Parish Communications is to help the body of Christ grow by inviting people to take faithful next steps that deepen their life in Christ.

These faithful next steps might look different for lifelong disciples than they do for those exploring Christ's invitation for the first time. And yet, each invitation to engage with God through your Parish Community (whether for a rummage sale, a worship service, joining the hospitality team, coming to a church picnic, participating in a retreat day or an introductory course to Anglicanism) ought to provide ample opportunity to take such steps.

Thought of in this way, growth is not primarily about the number of people in pews on any given Sunday, but the numbers of next steps people are taking with your Parish Community to deepen their life in Christ.

This evolving guide is designed to help your parish to develop an approach that is contextually appropriate and that communicates clearly with those you are serving, and those God is calling you to serve in Christ's name.

Resources for Improved Communications
1. Set up Your Google Business Profile

Google is currently the primary search engine people use to find just about anything. Restaurants. Addresses. Doctors Offices. And yes, even Churches.

Whether searching on a computer, a tablet, a GPS or a mobile phone, your Google listing is often the first thing that people see when they search for a church in your community.

Use this handy guide to claiming your Google Business Profile, keeping it up-to-date with service times, phone number, website, photos, and information about your church. It's free to use!

The following resource was developed to help parishes deepen their ability to communicate who they are, what God is calling them to, and how people can take faithful next steps that deepen their life in Christ.
