Ask yourself: Why are you interested in growing your parish? What is God doing in the life of your congregation that’s worth sharing? Why would a newcomer want to return to your church?

These are the kinds of questions we will wrestle with in this upcoming Diocesan workshop.

This Fall, join Bishop Lynne and Canon Andrew Stephens-Rennie in a five week workshop focused on concrete ways of inviting and greeting new people who visit your congregation.

In this course we will explore:

  • The purpose and work of a congregation
  • Several lenses through which we can understand our work
  • Practical tools for inviting, greeting, orienting, and incorporating new members

Participants from congregations of all sizes and shapes will walk away with new ideas and practical tools to implement immediately (and in the lead up to Advent and Christmas).

Where possible, congregations should try to send teams of two or more.

This will help your congregation to build a common language and practice, and to work through ways that your learnings can be applied in your own context.

Dates

Tuesdays from 11.00am-12.30pm
September 10, 17, 24; October 2, 9; November 5
