The Diocesan Council met on February 5, 2025, with Archbishop Lynne McNaughton welcoming Rev. Canon Andrea Brennan.
The agenda was adopted with the addition of a letter from All Saints, Vernon, and the previous meeting’s minutes were approved with minor corrections. Reports included updates from the Archbishop on the importance of in-person parish visits and the upcoming Missional Imagination Conference.
The Executive Archdeacon noted that office space at Christ Church Lutheran was considered as a possible site for the Diocesan Centre, but declined. Financial statements were not yet available. Committee updates included approval to seek listing proposals for the Synod Office property, discussions on Camp OAC fundraising and development permit delays, a proposal for a trust fund, and the ongoing revision of Canon 12 Cemetery and Graveyards. The council also acknowledged the intent to close the church building in New Denver while maintaining the worship community.
A Diocesan Communication Strategy Group is being formed to create a mandate for communication in the Diocese. Under new business, the council addressed financial transparency concerns raised by All Saints, Vernon, suggesting an FAQ or management report to improve clarity, possibly for Wardens' training.
