The Archbishop, in consultation with the Diocesan Council, has summoned the 65th Synod of the Diocese of Kootenay to meet on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. PDT for opening worship. Our meetings continue through Friday and Saturday, concluding with a worshipful celebration at St. Michael and All Angels Cathedral at 10 am on Sunday, May 26.
This is the first regular in-person Synod since 2018.
This year’s Synod theme is taken from Hebrews 10.
Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.
Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together...but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
God whose promise is faithful,
In whom rests our hope,
Be present in our midst as we gather for this Synod
As the Diocese of Kootenay.
Strengthen us as your Beloved Community of communities,
That we may give ourselves to
Whole-Hearted Worship of You.
Challenge us to seek right relationship
within our church, with our neigbours
And in your world.
Build us into thriving communities of faith
Where all may be nourished
and emboldened as disciples of Jesus.
We pray in the name of the same Jesus,
our Friend and Liberator.
AMEN.
