Bishop Lynne has appointed The Rev Ruth Sesink-Bott as the new incumbent of St Andrew's Okanagan Mission in Kelowna starting June 1st, 2025.
We congratulate the congregation of St. Andrew for a successful search process.
Below is a short bio of The Rev. Ruth
The Rev. Ruth Sesink Bott has lived in small prairie towns, secluded mountain hamlets and large urban centers and studied at Prairie College, the University of Toronto and the Institute for Christian Studies. Ruth and her husband Dawson have called Edmonton home for the last ten years. She has worked in diverse ministry settings: the university chaplaincy, as a parish rector, outreach community meal coordinator and as the vicar the cathedral. She is deeply passionate about healthy thriving faith communities and has served as the chair of the Diocesan Safe Church Committee, chair of the Diocesan Safe Church policy committee and as a member of the Examining Chaplains.
Having joined the Anglican church in her twenties, Ruth is grateful for the depth and gifts of the Anglican tradition. What drew her to the Anglican expression many years ago is still lifegiving – the profound rhythms of the church year, the weaving of scripture throughout the entirety of worship, the involvement and participation of the whole congregation in liturgy and the desire to form and express faith in the common vernacular while honoring the traditions of the faithful.
In her spare time she enjoys being in nature – particularly through paddling and biking, exploring spirituality and art by dabbling in meditative calligraphy and experimenting (not always successfully) in her urban garden.
